Summer vacations are perfect for brainstorming about highly creative and sophisticated new products for the bakery. At Duck this past summer I sat on the beach and thought: what if we took yellow cake batter, added a whole mess of rainbow sprinkles to it, baked it as a cupcake, frosted it with white buttercream, sprinkled the top with another whole mess of rainbow sprinkles, and THEN added a pretty colored sixlet on top. It seemed like a fun idea somewhat similar to what other bakeries call “birthday cake” cupcakes.  Cue my daughter Geneva who proposed the name “Partycakes” as in JennyCakes (get it?) and there you go, a brand new product. Turns out people love these, and since late August when we introduced them, they’ve been flying off the shelves. Available as cupcakes, mini cupcakes and cakes!
